Cymbal question, Ride or Splash?
im a beginner drummer and i already have a crash cymbal. should i get a splash or ride cymbal next? and what is a cheap but good sounding brand to get?
You'll want a Ride first. It is pretty much a required piece of the drumset. You can get-by by riding on a crash, but no, you need a Ride.
A good sounding budget Ride is the Sabian B8, it sells for around $100. I have one from many years ago and still use it, very nice sounding. Also look into higher-scale models that are used, you can usually get a good price and not worry about any wear and tear on it, because it's a Ride cymbal, they don't get too much abuse. If you look into a used one, try a Zildjian 'A' series Ping or Rock Ride. Zildjian also makes those models in their ZBT series, but I have no experiance with those, but try them out too, they're about $100 as well.
